Winter 2012

Worthing West Branch

News Letter
Winter 2012

The Christmas tree is back in the shed and the tinsel back in the box and it is time to start thinking about politics again.

This should be a good year for UKIP. Although there are no national elections, the tide of opinion is turning our way and we need to take advantage of this, by building up the Membership. The leafleting we have been doing has resulted in 27 new members joining us and our local membership now stands at just over 100. The effort was well worth while and we will be carrying on in 2012.

Notification of AGM
Our first event in 2012 will be the AGM, which will be held on:
Saturday 18th February 2012  At 2.30
Venue Lewes Room, Field Place, The Boulevard, Worthing
Guest speaker Harry Aldridge Chairman of Young Independence

Members of the committee feel very strongly that Young Independence deserves our support in their work promoting UKIP in the colleges and universities. UKIP desperately needs their youthful energy and enthusiasm.

The meeting will be followed by tea/coffee and biscuits giving members a chance to chat with others and get to know each other.
If you need details to find Field Place or help getting there please let me know.

Ron and Jenny’s Coffee Morning
Once again we are indebted to Ron and Jenny Brooks for opening their home to us for a fund raising event. The Coffee Morning they held in December raised over £300, as well as being a very enjoyable opportunity to put the world to rights in the company of like minds. Ron estimated they could accommodate 25 people and then squeezed in 29!

Hobbies and Craft Fair
We will be having a table at the Hobbies and Crafts Fair, to be held Saturday, 3rd March in the Assembly Hall in Worthing.
This is an opportunity to meet the General Public in the dry and warm. We do not push our message too overtly as this not a political meeting, but it is a chance to show the flag. If anyone is prepared to help please contact me or Phil Ruddock.

Business as usual
We will be supporting candidates in the Worthing elections in May and I make our usual plea for volunteers to put their names forward.
There will, of course, be the a leaflet, which will need delivering and if you have not already volunteered to help please get in touch with me or Phil.

I wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Janet Penn (Membership Secretary), 14, Jubilee Avenue, Rustington, BN16 3NB
